As I See It

Humor, its a living.

For example, as a white woman, I’m shaped by my class, my gender, my race, my sex. My life is shaped by privilege as a white person, but at the same time, I may have experienced discrimination based on my gender or my religion. Abby Ferber

Our doubts are traitors which make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt. shakespeare
An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest. If a man buries his purse into his head, no one can take that away from him. Ben Franklin

we are family

I am the youngest of four and the only daughter. my mother had four kids in three years. She had my twin brothers in the middle. The older I get the more I love my brothers no matter what. As I write I am playing a song by Rascal Flatts—a country group. It is called My Wish and it reminds me of how i feel about my oldest brother phil. “May your dreams stay big your worries stay small.” Its just a “wish” that good things happen to him. If I could sing I would sing it to him and also to the twins—Mark and Chris—-but especially to Phil and I dont know why it just feels that way!!!

Mark and Chris seem like opposites to the world but to their kid sister they are the same—extremely bright funny and loving. “I hope you know somebody loves you,” as Rascal Flatts sings.

Our mother Kathleen Edwina Ryan died on November 7, 2003. I miss her. She cared for me all throughout my mental illness. I know it was hard on her and the rest of my family but its been no pleasure cruise for me either! We were very close and she took me all over the world with her and paid my way. She told my brother Mark that I was good company to travel with and sometimes I actually took care of her!! I know she wont admit it but she did once or twice on our travels. She wanted to take me to Australia but I wouldnt go because of the 13 hour flight. 1. its too long for me. 2. she would be a total bitch if she had to go that long without a cigarette!!!!! (Maybe its longer than 13 hours!!!)

THe most memorable trip I took with her was to Hawaii in 2001. Maui was absolutely beautiful. we rented a non-smoking car but that little rebel smoked in it anyway!!!  She drove us to a place in the mountains where there were all these mouments to different religions that people had brought to the islands. It was breath taking. I will never go to Hawaii again because nothing cuold ever top that trip!!!

So what about my dad? I know he loves me and he lives in Galt with Julia. And four cats. He took care of me when I was a young adult and when I had my breakdowns.

tommorrow the theatre

I am going to see a play called Vigil and I forget who wrote it. ACT is doing it in San Francisco at the Geary Theatre.  It is about a man and his dying aunt. It will provide me with plenty to think about as good theatre does.  I am in the Second Balcony way up high in the cheap seats.  I have season tickets for ACT this time. My tickets are on the Wednesday Matinee when they have the Q&A after the performances. I find theatre therapeutic as I get to comtemplate the major issues in somebody elses life and be entertained at the same time.
